About Me
Ko Ingarangi te whakapaparanga mai, ko North Yorkshire te whenua tupu. Engari, ko Ōtautahi, ko Waitaha te kāinga. He kaitiakitanga tangata te mahi. Ko Andrew Frost ahau
I am a people-serving professional with a practice background that includes secondary and tertiary teaching, residential social work, group therapy, therapeutic community development, and subject-matter expert roles. I have also held leadership and management roles in therapeutic facilities and tertiary institutes.
I have worked in both Aotearoa and Australia. As an academic, I have taught, researched, and published particularly in the areas of professional supervision, groupwork theory, family violence, sexual violence, offender rehabilitation, and child protection. I am the co-author of a 2019 textbook on domestic and family violence for students and practitioners published by Routledge.
I have been invited to provide advice and services for government bodies including NZQA, ANZASW, Defence, Corrections, and Oranga Tamariki, as well as a range of NGOs, including kaupapa Māori organisations.
I am pleased to be a member of Hall McMaster Associates.
Why I am doing this work
I’m fortunate to have learned a great deal from my professional experiences. So I’m inspired to give back to the field by working directly with those in the people-serving professions, such as social work, counselling, education, and nursing.
I enjoy working alongside those seeking to widen horizons and open up possibilities for people, their whānau, and their communities. My practice is motivated by a heartfelt commitment to safe, satisfying, and effective professional social work practice. This work is inspired by a commitment to excellence in professional development. I come from a position of cultural humility and constantly strive to honour te Tirirti o Waitangi.
